An intensive part time programme that offers you a practical introduction to the skills and techniques of the acting profession. It is designed specifically for those who are wanting to learn the craft of acting, to develop physical, vocal and imaginative skills, and to explore, through rehearsal, dramatic text for performance. The programme is ideal if you wish to begin the pursuit of acting as a potential career, as a rewarding hobby, or would like to hone your skills to prepare for auditions.
The one-year programme comprises of three Terms, each lasting for 12-13 weeks, starting in September each year. Classes are one evening a week from 7.00pm – 9.30pm, and all students are required to participate in APT productions at the end of each term. Progression from term to term is by no means automatic, and depends on the progress noted during the term’s work, and the performance at the end of each term.
Classes are taught by experienced, professional tutors and include visits from outside directors and specialist practitioners to supplement your training.
If you show a strong aptitude for acting and are equally dedicated and ambitious (and punctual), you may be invited to return for fourth and fifth terms, when you will receive additional training to prepare you for the industry. This invitation is extended only at the discretion of the Course Director and is by no means an automatic progression from term three.
A Certificate of Attendance is awarded on satisfactory completion of the first year.
The course fee is only £620 per term

Many students enter directly into the acting profession, or enter full time drama school training. The programme is particularly suited for those who have little or no experience, but wish to contemplate a career as an actor/actress. More mature performers such as Shazia Mirza, Sharon Lawrence, James Lorcan, Paige Carter, Scott Wickes, Christian Dapp, Aurea Ellis, Martin Cooper-Langham and Malcolm Jefferies have all successfully launched acting and showbiz careers from participating on this programme.
